These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CoinSplit app for iOS and the website at coinsplit.ai (together, "CoinSplit," "the service"), provided by CoinSplit ("we," "our," or "us"). By creating an account or using CoinSplit, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use CoinSplit.
CoinSplit helps you keep track of shared expenses with friends, family, housemates and travel companions. You record expenses in any currency, CoinSplit works out each person's share and balance, and it suggests payments that settle everyone up.
We may add, change or remove features over time.
You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and password. You must give accurate information, keep your sign-in details secure, and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
CoinSplit is not directed to children under 13 (16 in the EU and UK).
You can add people to a split who don't use CoinSplit, by name and, if you choose, their email address. Add only people you actually share expenses with, and an email address only if you are allowed to use it. If you ask CoinSplit to email someone a reminder or a link to what they owe, you are responsible for that request; don't use reminders to pressure or harass anyone.
Everyone in a split can see its expenses, its people and their balances. Invite only people you are happy to share that with.
CoinSplit is a record-keeping tool. It does not send, receive, hold or transfer money, and it is not a bank or a payment service. When you pay someone back by bank transfer, cash, a payment app or any other way, you do that outside CoinSplit and then record it in the app.
Balances and suggested payments are calculated from what the members of a split enter. We are not responsible for mistakes in what was entered, and we are not a party to any agreement or dispute between you and the people you split with.
When an expense is in a different currency from the split's, CoinSplit converts it using a market rate for the expense's date, provided by a third-party data service. These rates are for keeping track; they may differ from the rate your bank or card provider applied.
Some features use AI to save you typing: reading a receipt, and splitting an expense you describe in your own words. These features are optional; you can always enter or split an expense by hand. AI can make mistakes, so check the amounts and the people before you save. What is sent to the AI provider, and when, is described in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms.
You keep ownership of what you enter in CoinSplit: expenses, notes, receipt photos and the rest. You give us permission to store, process and show that content to the members of your splits, only as needed to run the service. You are responsible for having the right to upload what you add.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, the services we use to run CoinSplit, and your rights. It forms part of these Terms.
You can stop using CoinSplit at any time and delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete Account. Deletion takes effect immediately. Shared expense records stay so that the other members' balances remain correct, as the Privacy Policy describes.
The CoinSplit app, website, name and logo belong to CoinSplit and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for its intended purpose; they do not give you any other rights in it.
CoinSplit is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that calculations, exchange rates or AI suggestions will always be correct.
To the fullest extent the law allows, CoinSplit is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from payments or disputes between users. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using CoinSplit after a change, the updated Terms apply.
